Closing a year of progress
2024 was a year of progress and achievement for Borsec: infrastructure development, community programmes and international recognition.
2024 was a year of progress and achievement for Borsec. Our town made significant advances in many areas, from infrastructure development and community programmes to international recognition.
Infrastructure development
Several major infrastructure projects were launched or completed during the year. In spring, construction began on a new sports centre on Stadionului Street, a project worth 18 million lei. Thermal insulation work was completed on a residential block in the town centre, while plans were approved for a new leisure centre near the Speranța ski area.
Community and education
The “Hot Meal” programme for schoolchildren in Borsec was launched in spring. The complete renovation of Zimmethausen Technological High School was completed on 5 February.
“Investing in education is the best investment a community can make,” the mayor said.
Tourism and international recognition
The Tourism Destination Management Organisation (OMDT) was established with 25 founding members. On 15 February, Borsec was named Romania’s third most popular tourist destination. In November, József Mik was elected president of Romania’s national association of spa resorts.
Looking ahead
“Infrastructure development, community programmes and our achievements in tourism show that we are moving in the right direction,” the mayor concluded.
